General Information
The course is open to astronomy PhD students who intend to be, or already are, working as professionals in the fields of astronomy. The course is based on a new textbook, Software Systems for Astronomy (Springer 2014) and covers the control systems used to point the telescope and operate its cameras and spectrographs; as well as the web-based tools used to plan those observations.
The school will take place at the lecture room and computer lab of the Institute Astronomical Observatory of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Słoneczna 36. We provide a computer, with all necessary software installed, for each participant.
Organizers cover costs of school materials including textbook, accomodation in the Jowita hotel, lunches, coffee breaks, excursions to Morasko Meteorite preserved area and Borowiec Observatory, Poznan walking tour, openning grill.
Organizers do not cover costs of travel.
The number of participants is limited to 20 persons. The order of registration decides about participation
in the school, but the organizers reserve the right to limit the number of participants from one institution.
School fee of 100 PLN will be required after the announcement of the list of paricipants.
