Prof. Oleksyi Golubov from Kharkiv University (Ukraine) will give a series of lectures for students and PhD students. They will be held Monday to Friday (24-28 Feb) from 10:00 to 12:30 in the conference room ‘Salonik’ of our Observatory.

During the lectures (read in English) the following problems will be presented:

  • Black-body radiation and stellar atmospheres
  • Dimensional analysis and supernova shocks
  • Degenerate gas and white dwarfs
  • Order-of-magnitude estimates and black holes
  • Eddington luminosity and AGNs
  • Ideal gas and stellar dynamics
  • Particle physics and cosmic rays
  • Numerical simulations and cosmological structure formation

During the lectures Noble Prizes will be used as a guideline to tell the story of modern astrophysics. Some exercises, illustrating the content, will also be solved.
